During a meeting held in Luxembourg, the EU Foreign Affairs Council issued a statement outlining the purpose of these new sanctions: to hold accountable those involved in trials against protestors.

Among the individuals who have been added to the latest list are the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Isfahan province, as well as the Deputy Judge of the Provincial Criminal Court of Isfahan province. These individuals played pivotal roles in the trials conducted against protestors.

Additionally, the sanctions have been extended to include the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in Isfahan province, along with the Governor and head of the Rezvanshahr Security Council and the Police Commander of Rezvanshahr in Gilan province. These figures have been implicated in the crackdown on protestors.

Furthermore, the Governor of the city of Amol and the commander of the Imam Hossein Guards Corps of Karaj have also faced sanctions due to their involvement in the detention and killing of protestors.

The EU's sanctions now encompass a total of 223 individuals and 37 entities in Iran, demonstrating the expanded scope of punitive measures. These sanctions involve freezing assets, implementing travel bans to EU member states, and imposing restrictions on the provision of funds or economic resources to the individuals listed. (ILKHA)
