Monday declared non-working day in Moscow, says Mayor
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has announced that Monday will be designated as a non-working day in the city, with certain exceptions, in a bid to minimize risks amidst an ongoing counter-terrorism operation.
Sobyanin called upon residents to refrain from unnecessary travel within the city due to the challenging situation arising from the counter-terrorism efforts.
The decision comes as the mutinous Wagner mercenary fighters reportedly continue their advance towards Moscow from southern Russia.
In light of the heightened security concerns, the mayor cautioned that traffic restrictions may be imposed in specific areas of the capital.
Sobyanin highlighted the readiness of all essential city services and urged residents to promptly report any emergencies they encounter.
The measures taken by the Moscow mayor are aimed at maintaining public safety and security during the unfolding counter-terrorism operation, as the city remains vigilant in the face of the advancing Wagner mercenaries. (ILKHA)
