Addressing the media, Zakharova underscored the ongoing military confrontation, driven by the objective of strategically defeating Russia in the Ukrainian conflict, and highlighted the immense risks and catastrophic consequences associated with such a scenario.

She stated: “The greatest danger lies in the aggressive policies that seek to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. The United States and NATO continue to escalate tensions and deepen their involvement in military confrontation. This reckless policy can ultimately lead to a direct armed clash between nuclear powers.”

Zakharova further emphasized that Russia is acutely aware of the gravity of the situation and has consistently sent sobering signals to Western countries. However, she voiced her disappointment with the Western capitals' obsession with anti-Russian hysteria and their persistent engagement in a hybrid war against Russia.

“The problem is that the West is simply obsessed with anti-Russian hysteria and an all-out hybrid war against our country. It demonstrates no willingness to genuinely understand our position,” she noted.

Concluding her remarks, Zakharova held the Western capitals responsible for any further deterioration of the situation. She reaffirmed Russia's unwavering determination to safeguard its security interests and issued a direct message to the West, stating: “We can only firmly reiterate that Russia is determined to defend its security interests, and we would not recommend the West to doubt this.”.
