Addressing AK Party’s parliamentary group meeting, Erdoğan said: “It is not possible for the Century of Türkiye to rise on a constitution that is the product of a coup. The 28th term Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, which consists of 15 political parties of different political traditions, has the representation capability to achieve this. In this sense, our new parliament will be the founder, architect and guide of the Century of Türkiye.”

“We do not allow our workers to be crushed under inflation”

Stating that the negotiations started at the Minimum Wage Determination Commission following the first Presidential Cabinet Meeting were concluded with reconciliation, Erdoğan said: “We have increased the gross minimum wage to 13,414 liras and net minimum wage to 11,402 liras for the second half of 2023. With this increase, we have made such a 34% interim rise that is over the inflation and that includes the welfare share as well. We have increased the minimum wage by 107% compared to the second half of last year.”

“As we do not allow our workers to be crushed under inflation, we ensure that they benefit from the increase of welfare,” Erdoğan noted.

“We will take resolute steps in combatting inflation”

Underscoring that they will deliver on, too, the promise they have given regarding public servants’ salaries, President Erdoğan went on to say: “We will ensure that all the 85 million will get their rightful share from Türkiye’s increasing prosperity as well as from its growing and developing economy. We have placed very heavy responsibilities on our economy administration in this regard.”

Pointing out that they are determined to develop the Turkish economy through investment, employment, production, exports and current account surplus, Erdoğan stressed that they will take resolute steps in combatting the inflation while healing the wounds of the earthquakes, and that they will work night and day to make Türkiye one of the world’s top 10 economies.

Further stressing that they see liberating Türkiye from its current constitution as an inseparable part of their efforts they have been exerting in economy, Erdoğan added: “It is not possible for the Century of Türkiye to rise on a constitution that is the product of a coup. The 28th term Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, which consists of 15 political parties of different political traditions, has the representation capability to achieve this. In this sense, our new parliament will be the founder, architect and guide of the Century of Türkiye.”

Erdoğan also congratulated the Turkish national football team on their 2-0 win against Wales in the EURO 2024 qualifying group stage. (ILKHA)
