7 Islamic fighters lost their lives in clash with Philippine army
The Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) of the Philippine Army reported on Monday that seven alleged members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) have lost their lives during a clash in Maguindanao del Sur.
The incident occurred during a joint military and police operation aimed at executing a search warrant against Nasser Yussef Hussain, also known as Tutin Usop, and Nurjihad Husain, also known as Datdat Usop, who are believed to be associated with the BIFF-Karialan faction.
The operation took place in Barangay Damawato, Datu Paglas, according to local sources.
The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) is an Islamic group operating in the Philippines, particularly in the Bangsamoro region of Mindanao.
The group emerged in 2008 after splitting from the larger Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) due to disagreements over the peace process with the Philippine government. (ILKHA)
