Speaking to reporters near Washington, President Biden emphasized that Ukraine would be required to meet the same rigorous standards as existing NATO members, implying that the process would not be expedited.

These statements precede an upcoming NATO leaders' meeting scheduled to take place in Lithuania next month, where discussions regarding Ukraine's potential membership are expected to be a key topic of deliberation.

During the same event, President Biden addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent claims of deploying nuclear weapons in Belarus, a neighboring country and close ally of Russia. President Biden strongly criticized Putin's assertions, denouncing them as “totally irresponsible.” The President reiterated his disapproval while speaking to reporters at a military base near Washington, en route to a speech in Philadelphia.

The sentiments expressed by President Biden align with the views articulated by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who, a day earlier, condemned Belarus' decision to accept the deployment of nuclear weapons as a “provocative” action.

The consistent messaging from both President Biden and Secretary Blinken underscores a unified stance against Russia's actions and a firm commitment to upholding the principles and standards of the NATO alliance. (ILKHA)
