During his meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Güler focused on crucial regional defense and security matters. Reliable sources indicate that both leaders exchanged views and explored potential avenues for enhanced cooperation.

In a separate meeting, Minister Güler joined Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas and French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu to discuss various aspects of bilateral and regional defense and security cooperation, as well as opportunities for strengthened collaboration within NATO. Minister Lecornu took the opportunity to extend his congratulations to Güler on his recent appointment as the Turkish Defense Minister.

Minister Güler's presence in Brussels signifies Türkiye's commitment to actively contributing to the defense discussions within the North Atlantic Council.

At 68 years old, Güler brings substantial experience to his role, having previously served as Türkiye's Chief of General Staff since 2018. His appointment as defense minister follows President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's electoral victory on May 28.

The discussions held during these meetings are expected to contribute to the ongoing efforts aimed at promoting stability, security, and cooperation among NATO member states and further strengthening Türkiye's defense ties with its international partners. (ILKHA)
