The Defense Ministry of Russia announced the start of these drills, which are aimed at enhancing combat readiness and military capabilities.

The exercise involves the participation of approximately 40 warships, support vessels, and various military assets, including around 3,500 personnel, as well as 25 aircraft and helicopters.

The drills will be conducted until June 15, with a focus on practicing the defense of sea lanes and fleet bases, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Simultaneously, NATO forces are also conducting their exercises in the region, with over 6,000 personnel, 50 ships, and more than 45 aircraft participating. Notably, Finland is participating for the first time as an alliance member, marking its inclusion in the joint drills.

These parallel military exercises reflect the ongoing regional tensions and rivalries between Russia and NATO member states in the Baltic Sea area. (ILKHA)
