Erdoğan vows to address welfare loss and tackle inflation at TOBB General Assembly
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a significant speech at the 79th General Assembly of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), expressing determination to address welfare disparities and combat inflation in the country.
During his address, Erdoğan emphasized the government's commitment to taking proactive measures to compensate for the welfare loss experienced by certain segments of society. He stated that their policy remains resolute in not allowing citizens to bear the burden of inflation, a stance they have maintained throughout their 21-year tenure.
Erdoğan proudly highlighted the government's previous achievement of reducing inflation to single-digit figures, alleviating the economic strain faced by the Turkish people. He reassured the audience that the same success will be replicated in the current period, as global economic fluctuations stabilize.
Underscoring Türkiye's ambitions, Erdoğan stated: "We will make Türkiye the rising star of its region." He emphasized the government's intent to play a more proactive role in resolving regional crises and restoring peace and stability. In addition to diplomatic efforts, Erdoğan pledged to strengthen economic and trade ties with neighboring countries.
Outlining the government's vision, President Erdoğan expressed the objective of establishing a belt of peace and security spanning from Europe to the Black Sea, Caucasus, Middle East, and North Africa. He highlighted successful resolution of issues with friendly and brotherly countries, strengthened relations with the Turkic and Islamic worlds, and expanded cooperation in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Balkans.
Erdoğan emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue with Western countries based on common interests. He also commended Türkiye's efforts to contribute to the solution of the Russia-Ukraine crisis through grain shipments and a prisoner exchange, affirming the country's commitment to diplomatic resolutions and preventing disastrous conflicts.
Erdoğan concluded his address by emphasizing that Türkiye's entrepreneurial foreign policy would be further supported through trade, energy, tourism, culture, and defense. He expressed confidence that together, as they have done over the past 21 years, they will elevate Türkiye as a rising star in its region.
