Erdogan declares Turkish citizens winners in national elections
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared the citizens of Turkey, numbering 85 million, as the victors in the recently concluded national elections.
Confident in his lead for reelection, Erdogan emphasized that the entire populace emerged as winners in both the May 14 and May 28 elections.
He emphasized that the aim was to achieve a victory that didn't leave anyone behind, making Turkey the sole beneficiary.
"All 85 million of our citizens are the winners of both the May 14 and May 28 elections," Erdogan said
Currently, with 99.5% of the votes counted, Erdogan holds 52.11% of the vote in the presidential runoff, while his opponent Kemal Kilicdaroglu has 47.89%.
On May 14, Erdogan secured the lead with 49.52%, but a presidential runoff was triggered as no candidate reached the required 50%.
Additionally, Erdogan's electoral alliance attained a parliamentary majority on May 14.
Expressing gratitude to the Turkish people, Erdogan thanked them for entrusting him with the responsibility of governing the country for the next five years. (ILKHA)
