Turkish expatriates' votes for second round of presidential election safely arrive in Ankara
Turkish expatriates' votes for the second round of presidential elections in Türkiye have arrived in the capital city of Ankara early on Friday.
After the voting period at diplomatic missions in European countries concluded on Wednesday, the votes were transported to Türkiye by three planes.
All the votes cast by Turks living abroad will be transferred to the Overseas District Election Board located at the ATO Congresium in Ankara.
The counting of these votes will take place simultaneously with the rest of the ballots on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. local time (1400GMT) once the voting process is completed throughout the country.
The polling at customs gates will continue until 5:00 p.m. local time on Sunday.
According to the Supreme Election Council (YSK), as of late Thursday, a total of 1,902,417 individuals have voted in the second round. In the May 14 elections, approximately 1,691,287 Turkish citizens cast their votes abroad.
To ensure maximum security, the overseas ballots are transported to Turkey through diplomatic couriers and other methods approved by the YSK. These measures are implemented to safeguard the ballots in the capital city of Ankara. (ILKHA)
