Stoltenberg acknowledged that while the conflict in Ukraine continues, Ukraine's accession to NATO will not take place.

However, he made it clear that the path to membership remains open for the future, indicating that Ukraine will eventually become a member of the alliance according to the consensus among NATO members.

Stoltenberg emphasized that the current situation of an ongoing war in Ukraine makes it impractical to consider admitting Ukraine as a member at this time.

The Secretary-General also pointed out two significant strategic errors made by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

These mistakes involve underestimating the courage and determination of the Ukrainian people and underestimating the unity and strength of NATO allies and partners.

Stoltenberg's remarks highlight the importance of considering the timing and circumstances surrounding Ukraine's potential membership while recognizing the need for resolving the conflict before any formal accession can occur. (ILKHA)
