This incident marks the second attack in Pakistan within two consecutive days.

The targeted bombing occurred in North Waziristan, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province that shares a border with Afghanistan and was previously a stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP.

Local police official Rehmat Khan reported that several civilians were also injured in the attack.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the incident, suspicions point towards the Pakistani Taliban.

Over the past six months, the TTP has intensified its attacks after unilaterally terminating a ceasefire agreement with the Pakistani government, which had been mediated by Afghanistan.

In a separate development on the same day, the TTP took responsibility for an attack on an oil and gas plant in Hangu, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, situated along the Afghanistan border.

This attack resulted in the deaths of four security troops and two private guards. The targeted facility is operated by MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas, a multinational European company. (ILKHA)
