Turkish motor vehicle registrations decrease in April, but strong yearly growth

This marked a 6.4% decrease compared to the previous month. Motorcycles accounted for 45.2% of registrations, followed by cars at 37.7%, small trucks at 9.8%, tractors at 4.2%, trucks at 2.1%, minibuses at 0.5%, buses at 0.4%, and special purpose vehicles at 0.1%.

In April, compared to the previous month, motorcycle registrations increased by 5.1%, while registrations for special purpose vehicles decreased by 48.4%, minibuses by 27.2%, small trucks by 21.7%, tractors by 16.7%, trucks by 14.8%, cars by 11.3%, and buses by 6.7%.

However, when comparing April to the same month of the previous year, there was a significant overall increase of 50.9% in road motor vehicle registrations. Minibuses saw a remarkable growth of 119.5%, followed by motorcycles at 85.7%, trucks at 37.0%, small trucks at 31.1%, cars at 30.4%, tractors at 25.9%, and buses at 17.8%. Special purpose vehicle registrations, on the other hand, decreased by 14.6%.

By the end of April, the total number of registered road motor vehicles reached 27,114,311. Cars constituted 53.6% of the total, followed by motorcycles and small trucks, both at 16.1%, tractors at 7.8%, trucks at 3.5%, minibuses at 1.8%, buses at 0.8%, and special purpose vehicles at 0.3%.

In April, a total of 1,025,170 road motor vehicles were newly registered. Among these, cars accounted for 69.7%, followed by small trucks at 15.8%, motorcycles at 8.3%, tractors at 2.5%, trucks at 1.7%, minibuses at 1.5%, buses at 0.4%, and special purpose vehicles at 0.1%.

Regarding the distribution of trademarks for newly registered cars in April, Fiat held the highest share at 17.5%, followed by Renault at 10.0%, Peugeot at 8.2%, Opel at 6.5%, and Volkswagen at 5.7%, among others.

During the January-April period, a total of 640,414 road motor vehicles were registered, showing a significant 78.2% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 35.3% to 8,701, resulting in a net increase of 631,713 registered vehicles.

In the January-April period, gasoline-fueled cars accounted for 66.0% of the total registered cars, followed by diesel-fueled cars at 20.8%, hybrid cars at 9.0%, electric cars at 2.4%, and LPG-fueled cars at 1.8%.

The most common engine size among registered cars in the January-April period was 1300 cc or less, comprising 35.7% of the total registrations.

Lastly, among the cars registered in the January-April period, 33.9% were white, 31.3% were grey, 11.9% were blue, and various other colors made up the remaining percentages. (ILKHA)
