The second round of the Turkish presidential elections is currently underway, with voting taking place both abroad and at border points.

Turkish citizens have the option to cast their votes at 156 missions and checkpoints located in 73 countries, with a total of 3,461 ballot boxes available outside of Turkey.

According to the Supreme Election Council of Turkey, more than 1 million Turkish citizens have already exercised their right to vote at foreign representations.

Voting at Turkish foreign representations will continue until May 24, while at border points, land checkpoints, airports, and sea harbors within the republic, voting will remain open until 17:00 on May 28.

Following the initial election held on May 14, the presidential race in Turkey resulted in a runoff as President Tayyip Erdogan led his opposition rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

Since neither Erdogan nor Kilicdaroglu reached the necessary 50% threshold to win outright, the runoff election is scheduled to take place on May 28.. (ILKHA)
