Jordan condemns Al-Aqsa Mosque storming and flags march in Jerusalem
Jordan has strongly denounced the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Jewish extremists, including members of the zionist government and parliament, as well as the planned flags march in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Sinan Majali, the spokesperson for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, issued a statement declaring the ongoing storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the provocative actions of extremist settlers as a blatant violation of international law and the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its sacred sites.
The statement also expressed concern over the deteriorating situation caused by allowing the provocative flags march in occupied Jerusalem.
Jordan firmly asserted that East Jerusalem remains occupied Palestinian territory, and the Zionist regime has no legitimate claim of sovereignty over the city and its holy sites.
The spokesperson highlighted that the walled holy compound, covering 144 dunums, is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department holds the sole authority to manage all matters related to the compound and regulate access to it.
Jordan called upon israel, as the occupying power, to immediately cease any actions aimed at altering the legal and historical status quo within the holy compound. (ILKHA)
