The earthquake occurred at approximately 15:06 TSI, with its epicenter located at a latitude of 37.868 degrees north and a longitude of 36.226 degrees east.

The depth of the quake was measured at 7.42 km, as announced by Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency on its website.

This recent earthquake follows the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria on February 6.

The earlier earthquake resulted in over 50,000 fatalities and left more than 100,000 people injured across ten severely affected provinces, with additional casualties reported in nearby Elazığ and Batman provinces.

The impact of the disaster has been extensive, affecting at least 13.5 million individuals and 4 million structures. Tragically, many were trapped under collapsed buildings.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change has been conducting damage inspections for a significant number of buildings, amounting to 763,000 in total.

Out of these, at least 41,791 buildings in ten Turkish provinces have been severely damaged or completely destroyed, leading to approximately 150,000 people being left without homes.

The situation remains challenging as efforts continue to provide support and assistance to those affected by these natural disasters. (ILKHA)
