Erdoğan pledges comprehensive urban transformation for Adana
Turkish President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed citizens in southern city of Adana.
“Taking into consideration the possibility of future disasters, we are not only healing the wounds caused by the earthquakes, but are also planning a more comprehensive urban transformation in Adana. We will inshallah turn Adana into a city where each one of my brothers and sisters can live in their homes safely and peacefully,” Erdoğan said.
Wishing Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes, Erdoğan said: “I pray Allah for protecting our country against every kind of disasters, troubles and accidents. As you know, we came to Adana on February 8 right after the earthquakes. We visited many times each one of our 11 cities, which suffered heavy casualties and destruction in the earthquakes. We displayed solidarity with our people, followed the ongoing works on-site and planned the future steps together with you.”
Stressing that the works to rebuild and revive the earthquake-hit cities proceed at a speed unprecedented in the world, Erdoğan pointed out: “We have fully removed the debris. We have completed the installation of 100 thousand containers along with 837 thousand tents. Also, we have initiated the construction process of 142 thousand houses and village homes, with ground broken for 59 thousand of them. We will build 650 thousand new houses in the earthquake zone, 319 thousand of which will be delivered within a year.”
Erdoğan also emphasized that despite the relatively minor effects of the earthquakes in Adana, they are still planning a comprehensive urban transformation for the city to ensure safety and peace for all citizens. He pledged to turn Adana into a city where each resident can live in their homes without fear of future disasters. (ILKHA)
