Erdoğan announces 45 percent wage hike for public workers
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Tuesday 45% increase in wages of state workers.
“We are increasing wages by 45 percent, including the welfare share. Thus, we are raising the lowest public worker wage to TL15 thousand,” Erdoğan said at the 2023 Public Collective Labor Agreement Signing Ceremony.
Erdogan further expressed the government's commitment to enhancing the minimum wage for civil servants and raising pensions.
He emphasized that they have ongoing efforts to address the inflation disparity and allocate a portion for welfare benefits in their plans for July.
Erdoğan also underscored the importance of protecting citizens from the adverse effects of inflation, ensuring they do not bear its burdens excessively.
Earlier in January, the Turkish government implemented a revision to raise the wages of active and retired civil servants by 30% during the first half of 2023. (ILKHA)
