Turkish Coast Guard rescues irregular migrants pushed back by Greek authorities
The Turkish Coast Guard has rescued 32 irregular migrants who were forcibly returned to Turkish territorial waters by Greek authorities off the coasts of Izmir and Mugla provinces.

The asylum seekers were found in rubber boats and taken to the local migration office for processing.
The Turkish Coast Guard confirmed that the Greek Coast Guard had pushed the boat carrying the migrants back into Turkish waters.

Currently, the country is hosting more than 4 million refugees and asylum-seekers, including over 3.7 million Syrians and over 330,000 individuals from other countries seeking international protection.
According to official reports, the Turkish coast guard has intercepted more than 285,000 irregular migrants in 2022, an increase from 162,000 in the previous year. (ILKHA)
