Syria and Iran sign long-term cooperation agreement
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi signed a memo of understanding for long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Two leaders also signed several other cooperation agreements in areas such as agriculture, oil, transport, and communication.
During a news briefing, al-Assad stated that the agreements and projects discussed would improve bilateral relations by increasing trade exchange and investments between the two countries.
He also noted that these initiatives would help mitigate the impact of sanctions and support the gradual transition of the global economic balance to the East.
Al-Assad welcomed the development of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and stressed the need for countries in the region to work together for their mutual benefit.
For his part, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi emphasized Iran's desire to maintain good relations with all countries in the region and expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality shown by the Syrian government.
He called for the withdrawal of illegal foreign forces from Syria and the restoration of Syrian sovereignty over all Syrian lands.
The Iranian President concluded by expressing hope that the agreements signed between the two countries would be beneficial for both nations and contribute to cutting off the hands of foreigners from the region. (ILKHA)
