Türkiye, Russia, and Ukraine to discuss extension of grain deal in Istanbul meeting
Turkish National Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, announced on Wednesday that delegations from Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine will hold a meeting on May 5th in Istanbul to discuss the extension of the grain deal.
“On Friday, May 5, the deputy defense ministers of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine plan to meet in Istanbul to discuss the grain deal,” Akar said.
Akar stated that all sides are ready to extend the agreements, and he hopes the initiative will be extended without problems.
“These agreements are very important for regional peace and ensuring stability. They are also of great importance for those countries in need,” Akar added.
The agreements on food exports from Ukraine were signed on July 22, 2022, for a 120-day period and were extended for the same period in November.
Russia announced a 60-day extension of the deal on March 18, and a further decision on the extension of the deal will depend on several conditions set by Russia.
The grain deal is essential for regional peace, stability, and food supply to countries in need. (ILKHA)
