Fires in Russia's Sverdlovsk region leave nearly 660 people homeless and one dead
Six settlements in Russia's Sverdlovsk Region were affected by fires, causing almost 660 people to lose their homes.
A total of 178 buildings, including 134 homes, were destroyed in the Sosva, Tayozhny, Visim, Neustroyeva, Karpinsk, and Progress settlements.
The victims of the fire, including 148 children, are currently staying with their families and friends. While the fires in Sosva, Tayuzhny, Visim, Neustroyeva, and Progress have been contained, the fire in Karpinsk has been extinguished.
One person born in 1961 died in the Sosva fire, and two criminal cases have been opened into the fires.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry's task force, led by Deputy Emergencies Minister Ilya Denisov, who oversees the ministry's primary fire department, has arrived in the region to assist. (ILKHA)
