“Recent israeli raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque violate the sanctity of the holy places and the right of Muslims to perform their religious rituals during the holy month of Ramadan,” Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Sinan Majali said in a written statement.

“Israel’s assault on worshipers and forcibly expelling them from the mosque in preparation for major raids will lead to more tensions and violence, for which everyone will pay,” Majali warned.

Tensions have gone high across the occupied Palestinian territories after zionist occupation forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex and forcibly removed worshippers last week.

Al Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia, and it holds great importance for Muslims worldwide.

Al-Aqsa is the world’s third-holiest site for Muslims after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia and is of particular importance for Muslim worshipers during the holy month of Ramadan.

The glistening golden Dome of the Rock is recognizable to Muslims from around the world, and to pray at the site is considered to be a great privilege.

In the years before modern borders, pilgrimages to the Muslim holy cities of Mecca and Medina would include a stopover in Jerusalem.

During the holy month of Ramadan, the area is especially busy with worshippers, who go to the mosque for the special nightly Taraweeh prayers. (ILKHA)
