2 FETO-linked suspects nabbed on Türkiye-Greece border
Two FETO-linked suspects were apprehended in Türkiye's northwestern Edirne province while attempting to cross the border from Greece, according to a statement released by the country's Defense Ministry on Saturday.
"Our border troops apprehended two individuals who were attempting to illegally cross into Turkey from Greece. Upon investigation, the individuals were found to be members of the FETO terrorist organization," the Ministry tweeted.
The FETO organization has been classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey since May 2016, under the names of Fethullahist Terrorist Organization and Parallel State Structure.
Following the failed coup attempt in 2016, the Turkish government held the group responsible for the coup and arrested thousands of soldiers and judges who had links to the organization. (ILKHA)
