Magnitude 3.7 aftershock shakes eastern Türkiye
A 3.7 magnitude jolted the Yeşilyurt district of Türkiye’s eastern Malatya province on Thursday, the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced on its website.
The earthquake occurred at around 09:47 TSI, with its epicenter at a latitude of 38.337 degrees north and a longitude of 38.188 degrees east, and at a depth of 7 km.
On February 6, magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria.
The death toll in Turkey and Syria has passed 56,000, and many survivors are enduring near-freezing winter temperatures after having been left homeless by the earthquake in cities in both countries.
More than 20,000 aftershocks have occurred after the devastating earthquakes, according to AFAD. (ILKHA)
