At least 39 killed, dozens injured in fire at migrant detention facility on US-Mexico border
At least 39 people were killed and 40 others injured after a fire broke out at a migrant detention facility on the U.S.-Mexico border.
The fire broke out late Monday night at the National Institute of Migration in Ciudad Juarez near the Stanton International Bridge, which links the Mexican city to El Paso, Texas.
According to local sources, the fire started in the restrooms and may have been intentionally set during a riot.
The injured people have been taken to four hospitals in unknown conditions.
Mexico’s attorney general’s office has launched an inquiry and has investigators at the scene, media reports said. (ILKHA)
