Thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank and areas within the Green line were allowed to enter Jerusalem for the prayers, passing through checkpoints where they underwent tight searches.

The Islamic Endowments in Jerusalem estimated that 100,000 Palestinians performed the first Friday prayers of the holy month of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Heavily armed zionist police deployed at Jerusalem's entrances, restricting the worshipers' access to the occupied city.

As the holy month of Ramadan starts, zionist authorities has announced new restrictions on Palestinian entry to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Only women, boys up to the age of 12, and elderly men over 55 years old will be allowed to enter the holy sanctuary during Ramadan, everyone else will require a hard-to-obtain permit.

The restrictions came after rising tensions across the Occupied West Bank. More than 90 Palestinians have been killed by zionist occupation forces since the start of this year. (ILKHA)
