Police arrest 11 MLKP-linked suspects in Istanbul-based operation
Istanbul public prosecutor's office released arrest warrants against 14 members of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) group across 3 provinces on Monday.
The suspects were involved in various criminal activities in the rank of the youth wing of the organization, according to Turkish officials.
While 11 suspects have been taken into custody, security forces are still looking for the remaining fugitive suspects.
During searches, a large volume of organizational documents and digital materials were seized.
The suspects are being interrogated at the provincial police departments.
The suspects will be transferred to the courthouse when their official procedures at the police department are completed.
The Marxist–Leninist Communist Party, abbreviated as MLKP, is an underground communist party in Turkey. It was founded in 1994.
MLKP is designated as an active terrorist organization in Turkey by the Counter-Terrorism and Operations Department of the General Directorate of Security. (ILKHA)
