At least 4 people killed Egypt train crash
At least four people were killed and 23 others injured Tuesday evening when a train crashed into a collision protection barrier at the end of the rail in Qalyub station, Egypt’s health ministry said.
The accident occurred at 7:20 p.m., while passenger train No. 557 was entering Qalyub station, according to local sources.
The driver passed the closed semaphore and continued driving, which resulted in the train entering the rail ending in a guard collision at the end of the rail, the Egyptian National Railways said.
The Ministry of Health said that 20 ambulances had been dispatched to the site of the accident.
“The initial outcome of injuries indicated that 16 citizens were injured, including 3 patients who received service at the site of the accident, and 3 injured who left the emergency department at Qalyub Specialist Hospital, after receiving medical service,” the Ministry added. (ILKHA)
