Turkish Foreign Minister meets with UN Chief in Doha
Türkiye Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Doha, Qatar.
Cavusoglu arrived in Qatar to attend the fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) scheduled for March 5-9.
“Arrived in #Doha to attend #LDC5. First meeting is w/UN Secretary General @antonioguterres,” Cavusoglu wrote on Twitter.
“Grateful for the assistance of the #UN after the earthquake in Türkiye. Discussed our #zerowaste initiative, situation in #Ukraine,” he added.
The 5th UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC5) aims to mobilize international community's commitments towards the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action for the LDCs (2022-2031) adopted by the UN General Assembly in April 2022.
It will offer the opportunity for a renewed partnership between LDCs and their development partners to overcome structural challenges, eradicate poverty, achieve internationally agreed development goals and enable graduation from the LDC category. (ILKHA)
