Magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Turkey’s Niğde province

The earthquake occurred at around 13:27 TSI, with its epicenter at a latitude of 37.989 degrees north and a longitude of 37.499 degrees east, and at a depth of 7 km.

The tremor was felt in nearby provinces, including Adana, Aksaray, Kırşehir, Nevşehir and Karaman.

There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties, according to local reports.

On February 6, magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria.

The death toll in Turkey and Syria has passed 50,000, and many survivors are enduring near-freezing winter temperatures after having been left homeless by the earthquake in cities in both countries.  

More than 8,000 aftershocks have occurred after the devastating earthquakes, according to AFAD. (ILKHA)
