At least 6 killed as new deadly earthquake hits southern Türkiye
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck the southern Turkish province of Hatay, killing at least six people.
An earthquake of 6,4 magnitude struck the southeast near the border with Syria, where massive quakes killed more than 48,000 people in both countries on 6 February.
“Three people were killed and 213 people were injured. Six people are believed to be trapped under the rubble of three collapsed buildings,” Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said.
Soylu urged people not to enter potentially dangerous buildings.
The new earthquake centered in the town of Defne and hit just after 8 pm local time.
The tremor was felt in Antakya and Adana as well as in Syria, Cyprus, and Jordan.
It was followed by a 5.8-magnitude aftershock. (ILKHA)
