A 5.0 magnitude earthquake strikes eastern Turkey
A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Yedisu district of Turkey’s eastern Bingöl province, the country’s Disaster, and Emergency Management Presidency said on Sunday.
The earthquake took place at around 03:35 TSI, with its epicenter at a latitude of 39°10'58.8 degrees north and a longitude of 40°13'57.7" degrees east, and a depth of 5.00 km.
There were no immediate reports of damages or casualties after the earthquake.
On February 6, magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria in the early hours of the morning on February 6.
The death toll in Turkey and Syria has passed 44,000, and many survivors are enduring near-freezing winter temperatures after having been left homeless by the earthquake in cities in both countries. (ILKHA)
