“We are now in Adıyaman to help earthquake-affected people. They need blankets, heaters, food items, and tents. As Hope Caravan Foundation, we provide hot meals to more than 25,000 people every day. We need the support of philanthropists in order to maintain our humanitarian efforts in the region,” said Cengiz Kurtaran, the chairman of Hope Caravan Foundation.

“We are very grateful to the benefactors who supported us. Indeed, from the very first day, they tried to be with our brothers here. Humanitarian aid supplies are being distributed to people, but they are insufficient. There is a lack of adequate shelter. The efforts are going on to finish the removal of the debris in order to return life to normal. As Hope Caravan Foundation, we will stay here until the needs of our brothers are met,” Kurtaran added.

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria in the early hours of the morning on February 6.

There were at least 31,643 deaths and 80,278 injured across the ten most affected provinces in Turkey, including some casualties also in adjacent Elazığ and Batman provinces.

At least 13.5 million people and 4 million buildings have been affected. Thousands were trapped under rubble when buildings collapsed. (ILKHA)
