Türkiye earthquake: Youth rescued from rubble after nine days
Rescue workers pulled Tuesday a young man out from underneath the rubble of a collapsed building in Adıyaman, nine days after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated the region.
Muhammed Cafer Çetin, 18, had been trapped in the ruins for 197 hours - eight-and-a-half days.
Search and rescue teams removed Çetin from the debris in the city of southeastern Adıyaman, according to local sources.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, officials said.
On February 6, thousands of buildings collapsed in southeastern Turkey and northern Syria after the 7.8-magnitude earthquake.
That quake was followed nine hours later by a nearby 7.5-magnitude earthquake.
About 36,000 people were killed and tens of thousands were injured in both countries. (ILKHA)
