Türkiye jobless rate rises in December--statistical agency
The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over increased by 62 thousand to 3 million 633 thousand persons in December 2022 compared to the previous month, according to Turkish Statistical Institute.
As the unemployment rate was estimated 10.3% with 0.1 percentage point increase compared to the previous month; it was estimated 8.2% for men and 14.4% for women.
Seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 48.5%
The number of employed persons increased by 18 thousand to 31 million 573 thousand persons in December 2022 compared to the previous month. The employment rate occurred at 48.5% without any change. In addition, this rate was 66.0% for men, and 31.3% for women.
Seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate realized as 54.1%
The number of persons in the labor force realized as 35 million 206 thousand persons with 80 thousand persons increase in December 2022 compared to the previous month. The labor force participation rate was 54.1% with 0.1 percentage point increase. Also, this rate was 71.9% for men, it was 36.6% for women.
Seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate was 18.9%
The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 18.9% with 1.0 percentage point increase compared to the previous month. While this rate was estimated at 15.4% for men and 25.4% for women.
Seasonally and calendar-adjusted average weekly actual working hours was 44.5
Seasonally and calendar adjusted average weekly actual working hours of persons at work during the reference period estimated 44.5 hours with 0.2 hours increase compared to the previous month in December 2022.
Seasonally adjusted composite measure of labor underutilization rate realized as 21.4%
In December 2022, the rate of composite measure of labor underutilization consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployment was 21.4% with 0.6 percentage point increase compared to the previous month. While combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment realized as 14.9%, combined rate of unemployment and potential labor force estimated as 17.2%. (ILKHA)
