Snowfall, blizzards cut off access to hundreds of villages in eastern Türkiye
Heavy snowfall and blizzards have blocked roads and caused power outages in Turkey’s eastern provinces.
At least 1,112 roads that connect villages and small towns were shut down to motor vehicle traffic on Sunday due to heavy snowfall and blizzards in Türkiye’s eastern provinces, including Van, Hakkari, Bitlis, and Muş.
Snow removal crews are working hard to reopen roads to traffic, officials said.
According to current forecasts, the system will impact most of Turkey into Tuesday and it will begin moving off to the north, with only the northernmost reaches of the country continuing to experience snowfall by Thursday. (ILKHA)
