Heavy snowfall blocks more than 780 village roads in eastern Türkiye
Heavy snowfall has blocked roads and caused power outages in Turkey’s eastern provinces, local sources reported.
At least 780 roads were shut down to motor vehicle traffic due to heavy snowfall in the region which has seen freezing temperatures in recent days.
Snow removal crews are working hard to reopen roads to traffic, officials said.
Provinces affected by heavy snowfall and school shutdowns include Muş, Bitlis, Hakkari, and Muş.
In Türkiye’s Eastern Anatolia region, there is a long winter, and snow usually remains on the ground from November until the end of April. (ILKHA)
