At least 44 people killed in Pakistan bus crash
At least 44 people were killed and 4 others injured when a passenger bus with at least 48 on board plunged off a bridge in southwestern Pakistan and burst into flames.
According to Pakistani officials, the passenger bus was on its way to Karachi from Quetta when it fell into a ravine and caught fire in the early hours of Sunday.
The accident took place due to speeding as the bus went out of the driver's control and was careened into the ravine.
Deadly road accidents are common in Pakistan, with many blaming the shoddy infrastructure, unfit vehicles, and people’s inability to follow traffic rules.
According to World Health Organization estimates, more than 27,000 people were killed on the country’s roads in 2018. (ILKHA)
