Tension prevails after zionist jailers attack Palestinian prisoners
The zionist repression units on Saturday stormed several sections in Megiddo, Ofer, and Negev desert prisons, attacking Palestinian prisoners and isolating a group of them.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a press statement that a state of tension prevailed in the sections after the Israeli jailers raided sections 12 and 22 in Ofer prison where 232 Palestinian prisoners are currently held.
For its part, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees reported that the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) stormed the Palestinian prisoners’ rooms in Megiddo prison and placed 40 prisoners in solitary confinement.
Moreover, the IPS closed sections 26 and 27 and stormed section 8 in Negev prison, informing the prisoners of its plan to transform them into Nafha prison.
Isolating Palestinian prisoners constitutes a part of the IPS’s campaign of transfers practiced against 220 prisoners from Hadarim, Rimon, and Megiddo prisons.
Palestinian prisoners who were recently transferred from Rimon to Gilboa prison incurred 100,000 shekels in losses after the IPS destroyed their property. The same destruction spree against Palestinian prisoners’ property was also practiced earlier this month against the Palestinian prisoners who were transferred from Hadarim to Nafha.
Since 2021, the IPS has been escalating its attacks and transfers against Palestinian prisoners in order to deprive them of any opportunity for a state of stability.
Around 4,700 Palestinian citizens, including 29 women, 150 children, and 850 administrative detainees in addition to 600 patients and 552 serving life sentences are currently held in israeli prisons, according to the Commission of Detainees Affairs. (ILKHA)
