US arms exports rise by 49 pct in 2022
Sales of US military equipment to foreign governments increased 49 percent to $205.6 billion in 2022, the US State Department said in a statement on Wednesday.
The sales in 2022 included $13.9 billion worth of F-15ID fighter jets to Indonesia, $6.9 billion worth of Multi-Mission Surface Combatant ships to Greece, and $6 billion worth of M1A2 Abrams tanks to Poland, and $3.05 billion worth of Patriot guidance enhanced missile-tactical ballistic missiles to Saudi Arabia, according to the statement.
The United States topped the list of the world's largest arms exporters with a share of 39 percent, followed by Russia with 19 percent and France with 11 percent. China and Germany rounded out the top five with 4.6 percent and 4.5 percent, respectively. (ILKHA)
