Death toll from building collapse in Syria rises to 16
At least 16 people were killed and dozens of others were feared trapped under rubble after a five-story residential building collapsed in the city of Aleppo, northern Syria.
The incident took place in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood at around 02:30 a.m. local time earlier on Sunday, local sources said.
According to initial reports, five families are stuck under the rubble, without knowing their numbers.
Following the incident, many emergency and rescue teams rushed to remove the rubble and rescue those stuck.
The teams were able to remove an elderly man who had been sent to the neighborhood’s hospital, as well as the body of a young man was found under the rubble.
The causes of the collapse of the building are not yet known. (ILKHA)
