Türkiye: Attack on sacred values is not freedom, but modern barbarism
Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin has condemned a demonstration involving the burning of Qur’ans in Sweden.
“The burning of the Holy Quran in Stockholm is a clear crime of hatred and humanity. We vehemently condemn this,” Kalin wrote on Twitter.
“Allowing this action despite all our warnings is encouraging hate crimes and Islamophobia. Attack on sacred values is modern barbarism, not freedom of speech,” Kalin added.
Rasmus Paludan, a politician from the far-right Stram Kurs (Hard Line) party, burnt a copy of the Quran during the protest on Saturday outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.
The Holy Quran is the last holy book that Allah sent down to people. The Holy Quran was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through Gabriel (Jibril) and then it reached today through being written down and reported.
The Quran is a material and spiritual guide for individuals and the community, all classes of people living in any place or time and for the whole life of man. Everybody, from the president to the man in the street, finds the things that are about them in the Quran. They take the knowledge and lessons that are necessary for peace and tranquility both in the world and the hereafter.
Therefore, intentionally insulting the Quran by defiling or defacing copies is regarded by Muslims as blasphemous. (ILKHA)
