Ramanlı stated that inequality in income distribution is one of the most fundamental issues in Turkey, and said that it is not possible to talk about justice in an economic system where the poor are getting poorer, even the middle class is facing many difficulties, while the rich get richer.

Ramanlı said: “An important part of the state’s revenues in Turkey consists of indirect taxes.  For this reason, the fact that the poor and low-income citizens bear the tax burden of the country makes a radical system change inevitable.”

Reminding that governments try to forgive high amounts of government receivables with interest under the name of tax regulation at every opportunity, Ramanlı said, “These opportunities, which many large companies and merchants benefit from, are reflected as additional taxes on low-income citizens. The forgiven debt of the rich is imposed on the poor by indirect taxes.  It is not justice to increase the wealth of the rich and the poverty of the poor.  It is not justice for people to have to pay taxes even for basic foodstuffs to survive. Justice is levying taxes on the ratio of income and wealth, protecting the poor and middle class.  In order to overcome difficult days more easily, a tax arrangement should be made that will relieve the poor.” (ILKHA)
