Over 24 kg of heroin seized in eastern Turkey
Turkish security forces have seized more than 32 kilograms of heroin near the Turkey-Iran border in the eastern Van province, Defense Ministry said.
“Our border troops continue their reconnaissance, surveillance, and patrol activities. 24 kilograms of narcotic drugs were seized during the search and screening activities carried out on the Van border line,” the Ministry wrote on Twitter.
Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted of these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years. (ILKHA)
