“The Russian-Ukranian war is likely to escalate in the coming months. More war means more destruction, and a deeper, longer crisis. This is not good for anyone. Türkiye will continue its efforts for negotiations, ceasefire, prisoner exchange, nuclear security and grain export,” Kalın wrote on Twitter.

Since the Russian aggression against Ukraine began on February 24th,2022, under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey has managed to preserve its relationship with both Russia and Ukraine without endangering its own geostrategic calculations in the region while at the same time avoiding joining ranks with Western countries in imposing crippling sanctions on Russia

Turkey also acted as a mediator over the grain and food supply issue between Moscow and Kyiv.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has long sought to bring together Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for truce talks in Istanbul. (ILKHA)
