Türkiye ratifies two international agreements signed with TRNC and Nigeria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has ratified two laws on international agreements with TRNC and Nigeria, according to Saturday's Official Gazette.
The agreements signed between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Nigeria have been ratified by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and published in the Official Gazette.
"The Protocol on the Displacement of Geçitkale Airport Energy Transmission Lines between Türkiye and TRNC", signed in Ankara on October 17, 2022, between Türkiye and TRNC, was published in the Official Gazette.
The agreement includes the preparation, approval and construction activities of the project jointly by the Ministry of National Defence from Türkiye, the Ministry of Economy and Energy from the TRNC, and the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIBTEK) for the Geçitkale Airport Power Transmission Lines Displacement operation, which is used by the Geçitkale Naval Air Base Command in the TRNC.
The protocol aims to displace the said energy transmission lines in a way that will not hinder airport traffic.
Cooperation with Nigeria in the field of mining
The "Memorandum of Understanding between Türkiye and Nigeria on Cooperation in the Field of Mining", signed by Türkiye and Nigeria on October 20, 2021, in the capital, Abuja, was also ratified.
The stated aim of the agreement is to develop cooperation in the field of mining on the basis of mutual understanding and taking into account the expertise and development needs of the two countries.
The Memorandum of Understanding stipulates the following areas of cooperation: Exploration of mineral resources, regulation and enforcement of mining laws, organization of seminars, conferences and meetings in the field of mining, training programs in mineral exploration, geological research and laboratory studies, technical cooperation in mineral enrichment, safer mining practices and the development of expertise, skills and human capacity in the mining sector.
