Longest-serving Palestinian prisoner is finally free after spending 40 years behind israeli bars
The zionist occupation authorities (ZOA) released on Thursday the longest-serving Palestinian prisoner Karim Younis after spending 40 years in israeli jails.
Younis was released from Hadarim prison after fully serving his 40-year prison sentence.
Karim Younis was freed and left in the city of Ra’anana, within the Green Line, by zionist authorities. His family were not immediately notified of his release in an attempt to foil any planned celebrations.
He later managed to contact his brothers, who transferred him to his hometown in Ar'ara.
In 1983, Younis was sentenced to death and later reduced to life in prison. That was later reduced to 40 years.
"We are ready to offer another 40 years for the freedom of our people," he said after being released. (ILKHA)
