Zionist regime place more than 600 Palestinian children under house arrest in 2022
The zionist occupation authorities have forced more than 600 Palestinian children, from Jerusalem, to remain under house arrest since the start of 2022.
In a press release issued Monday, the Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said that the occupation authorities resort to house arrest policy as a form of punishment against Jerusalemite children under the age of 14.
While under house arrest, Palestinian minors are forced to wear a GPS ankle monitor and are not allowed to go to school or even a clinic without being accompanied by a supervisor, the body added.
During that period, the child is strictly denied from leaving the house until a court ruling is issued. Some Jerusalemite families are forced to sell their properties to pay the heavy fines imposed by the Israeli courts pending their sons' release.
The commission pointed out that some children are removed from their family homes and placed under house arrest outside the occupied, forcing their families to rent the outlying house.
In addition to depriving the children of their right to education, the Israeli policy of house arrest also creates a constant feeling of anxiety, fear, and deprivation, which causes the child a state of psychological instability, sometimes involuntary urination, and excessive nervousness, the commission added.
